Essendon Private Clinic has provider agreements with all major Health Funds who will cover your treatment costs, depending on your level of cover. Once we have received your referral, we can provide you with an estimate of any out of pocket expenses you may be responsible for (e.g. excess, co-payments). All out of pocket expenses must be paid prior to your discharge.

A holding deposit may be required on admission to cover any added expenses such as pharmacy or phone calls raised during hospitalisation.

Self Funded or Without Private Health Fund Cover

If you do not have private health insurance, please contact our administration team prior to your admission to obtain an estimate of the cost of your stay. The whole estimate is required to be paid on admission if you are self funding.

Please note: we endeavour at all times to provide an accurate estimate, but unforeseen circumstances can sometimes occur and additional costs may be incurred.

Workcover / Worksafe / Third Party Insurance

If your admission is as a result of a Workcover / Worksafe, or Third Party, the hospital requires prior written approval for your admission from the relevant insurance company. Your admission cannot be confirmed or proceed until this approval is received.

Payment Methods

The hospital accepts cash, bank cheques, EFTPOS, Visa and MasterCard for any amounts payable. A credit card surcharge of 1.5% applies for VISA and MasterCard. Personal cheques are not accepted.
